Pike-Delta-York schools drop tax from Aug. 6 ballot

6/15/2002

DELTA, Ohio - By a 4-0 vote, the Pike-Delta-York school board agreed yesterday to remove a permanent, 1 percent income tax from the Aug. 6 ballot.

The tax would have raised about $1.3 million a year for operating expenses, but Superintendent Bill Lodermeier said the board decided to remove the issue to give a new administration time to study the district's finances.

Mr. Lodermeier is leaving the district to take a job with the Bath district in Allen County. Incoming Superintendent Russ Griggs will be taking over on Aug. 1.

In addition, the district's chief financial officer and treasurer, Joyce Kinsman, has only been with the district since the end of May.
