Taft taps 4 for seats on board of trustees at Northwest State

COLUMBUS - Gov. Bob Taft has appointed three new members and reappointed a fourth to the Northwest State Community College Board of Trustees, which oversees operation of the two-year technical college in Archbold.

The new members are:

  • Joan M. Aschliman of Archbold, replacing Elizabeth Leupp of Archbold. Ms. Aschliman is an obstetrics educator at the Fulton County Health Center. She received her registered-nurse degree from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing.

  • Steven R. Lankenau of Napoleon, replacing Gina Short of Bryan. Chief operating officer of LEAI, Inc., he received his bachelor's degree from Miami University and his master's from Harvard.

  • Sue E. Derck of Antwerp,, replacing Georgia Kohart of Oakwood. Ms. Derck is co-owner of Antwerp Insurance Agency, Inc.

    The governor reappointed Peter C. Beck of Napoleon to the board. Vice president of manufacturing and a member of the board of directors for the Automatic Feed Co., he once attended the college. All of the appointees will serve terms expiring in 2008 with the exception of Ms. Derck, who replaces a trustee who resigned in midterm. Her term will expire in June.

    The governor appointed the college's president, Larry G. McDougle of Napoleon, to an indefinite term on the Governor's Workforce Policy Board. The panel advises the governor on issues designed to keep Ohio's work force competitive.

    Dr. McDougle replaces Jerry Sue Thornton of Cleveland. Dr. McDougle received his bachelor's degree from the University of Findlay, his master's from the Kent State University, and his doctorate from the University of Toledo.

    William E. Ruse of Findlay was appointed for an indefinite term on the work-force board, replacing W. Paul Worstell of Leipsic. Mr. Ruse is president emeritus of Blanchard Valley Health Association. He earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio Northern University, his master's from Xavier University, and his law degree from the University of Toledo.

    Kenneth F. Bond of Defiance was reappointed to the Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, which advises the Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services.

    Members of all three panels are compensated for expenses only.
