Findlay teachers OK 2-year pact with raises

10/16/2002

FINDLAY - Nearly two months after their contract expired, Findlay city school teachers approved a two-year pact that gives them a 4 percent raise this school year and a 3.5 percent raise next year.

The contract, which was ratified by the school board Monday night, does not include the "fair share" provision the teachers union had sought. Currently, teachers are not required to join the union or pay union dues though the union represents all teachers in the district.

The board agreed instead to reimburse full-time teachers up to $475 a year for "professional dues for education-related professional organizations."

As part of the contract, teachers will pay a greater share of their medical coverage.
