New Riegel will open new school after break

NEW RIEGEL, Ohio - Teachers in the New Riegel Local School District will spend the holiday break moving into the district's new building.

While students are on vacation beginning Dec. 20, the teachers will be preparing the new kindergarten through grade 12 facility when classes resume Jan. 6. A ribbon cutting and an open house are set for Jan. 4.

Superintendent Dale Mills told the school board Monday that bids for the demolition of the present school building, which was built in 1950, will be opened Tuesday.

The new $10.4 million building, which was funded with help from the state's school facilities program, was built on 25 acres of land behind the existing school.
