Cardinal Stritch inducts 6 into Hall of Fame

Cardinal Stritch High School in Oregon has announced the names of six individuals who were inducted into its 2003 Hall of Fame on May 17.

The inductees are:

Larry Davenport, a Bowling Green State University alumnus who graduated from Cardinal Stritch in 1968. While at the high school, he was junior class secretary and treasurer and a member of the Latin Club, Weightlifters Club, and Varsity S Club. Mr. Davenport was a member of the football and basketball teams and was captain of the football team his senior year. In 1972, he was hired by Ernst & Young LLP as a staff accountant and in 1983 became the youngest partner ever promoted in the Toledo office.

Mr. Davenport is a member of the Associated General Contractors of Ohio and is on the Executive Committee and Board of the Directors of the Regional Growth Partnership.

Walter and Dorothy Goetz, whose 10 children graduated from Stritch.

Mr. Goetz served four terms on the Cardinal Stritch High School board, acting as president for many years. He was an Oregon city councilman, a member of the Oregon Plan Commission, chairman of the Sacred Heart Parish Festival finance group, and a member of Oregon Civil Service Commission. In 1961, Mr. Goetz was appointed assistant vice president of the Toledo Trust Company in charge of Trust Operations.

Mrs. Goetz was an active member of the Biretta Mothers' Club from 1967 through 1986, serving as its treasurer, vice president, and president in 1979

Dennis Molnar, posthumously, who graduated from Stritch in 1971. Mr. Molnar was a member of the Weightlifting Club, the Auto Mechanics Club, Varsity S Club, and the cross-country team. He was voted the most inspirational baseball player in the 1969-70 season. He received an athletic scholarship to attend Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was killed in a car accident at age 20.

In Mr. Molnar's honor, the Aquinas College baseball team initiated the Dennis Molnar Award in 1974, which is given each season to the most valuable player or players.

Kathleen Zsigray Orsini, a 1980 graduate, was involved in student council her sophomore and senior years. She was also a three-year letter winner in basketball, co-captain her senior year, and a one-year letter winner in track. During the 1977-78 season, her team won the City League championship, district champion, and a regional finalist.

After graduating from Siena Heights University in Adrian, Mrs. Zsigray Orsini spent many years coaching. She started coaching high school basketball in 1984 as an assistant freshman girls coach at Stritch. She became the head varsity girls' basketball coach in 1986, where she remained until 1992.

Mrs. Zsigray Orsini is the preschool director and teacher at St. Joan of Arc School in Canton, Ohio.

Thomas Santoro, a 1968 Stritch graduate and 1975 University of Toledo graduate. In 1972, Mr. Santoro returned to Stritch to coach the freshman football team. From 1974 through 1979, he was the assistant varsity football coach while teaching English and health.

Mr. Santoro is a 1993 Birmingham Hall of Fame inductee and 2002 AFLAC National assistant coach of the year.
