MONROE — An Iowa man is set to become the next president of Monroe County Community College after being unanimously selected to fill the post Monday night by the college's board of trustees.

Dr. David E. Nixon, executive dean of Iowa Lakes Community College's campus in Emmetsburg, Iowa, will assume the post pending a successful completion of contract negotiations and an on-site credentials check by representatives of MCCC's search committee.

Dr. Nixon, who will become MCCC's fourth president in its 39-year history, replaces Audrey Warrick, who is set to retire at the end of this month. Mrs. Warrick is paid $133,733 a year.

The board appointed Timothy Bennett, vice president of business affairs and treasurer, as the interim president of the college until it can come to successful terms with Dr. Nixon.
