13 school employees laid off in Fostoria

FOSTORIA — Fostoria schools laid off 13 employees to help ease budget problems. The workers were teachers' aides, custodians, and food service workers.

The school district said a reduction in state and federal funding and students leaving the district through open enrollment created the need for the layoffs. The cuts will save $2.5 million over 10 years. In July, 12 teaching positions were eliminated through attrition.
