A University of Toledo administrator who was its interim president has been named a finalist for a high-ranking university job in Florida.

William Decatur, UT s senior vice president for finance, technology, and operations, is one of four remaining candidates for the job of executive vice president and chief operating officer at Florida Atlantic University, according to Michael Armstrong, associate provost there and chairman of the search committee.

The institution, whose largest campus is in Boca Raton, has 25,000 students.

Mr. Decatur was named UT s interim president in 2000 following the resignation of President Vik Kapoor. He returned to his capacity as a vice president when Daniel Johnson became UT s president in 2001.

Mr. Decatur said plenty of exciting things are going on at UT and he s not looking to leave, but the opportunity for a position with even more responsibility was one he had to explore.

The Florida position would involve overseeing all administrative and operational activities within the university, Dr. Armstrong said.

Mr. Decatur is scheduled to visit Florida Atlantic on Dec. 5.

He is paid an annual salary of $171,159 at UT.
