Perrysburg schools' band director resigns

1/29/2004

Rod Miller has resigned as band director and instrumental music teacher of Perrysburg schools, effective at the end of the 2003-2004 school year.

On behalf of the board of education, Superintendent Mike Cline has accepted the resignation of Mr. Miller, who has been employed at the schools for four years. During that time, the band has grown in numbers and in quality, according to information provided by Dr. Cline yesterday.

“Mr. Miller is a very talented band director,” the superintendent said. “The school administration is grateful for the enthusiasm and showmanship that he has brought to the Perrysburg High School marching band program. This resignation is not a dispute about the performance of the band. It is a decision that Mr. Miller has made and the administration will accept for the best interest of the students who are in band now and in the future.”

In a prepared response Mr. Miller said, “I am very grateful to the Perrysburg Schools for allowing me the privilege of working with the district's students for the past four years. As I move on to new opportunities, I will take along many happy memories of the students, band members, and families I have been honored to serve.”
