Gov. Taft to dedicate Pandora-Gilboa School

3/4/2004

PANDORA, Ohio — Gov. Bob Taft will be the keynote speaker at an official dedication Sunday for the Pandora-Gilboa School District's new $17.3 million pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 school.

Students moved into the new 122,000-square-foot school in December. It was built primarily with funds from the Ohio School Facilities Commission, which picked up about 74 percent of the cost of the project.

The district will host an open house at the building between noon and 5 p.m. Sunday, with the dedication scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in the new school's gymnasium.

The same gymnasium was nearly destroyed in July, 2002, when a fierce thunderstorm knocked over three of its four walls as they were under construction.

Work crews were able to rebuild the walls within seven weeks and were thanked with a special party by the district's students.
