The University of Toledo will hold spring commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday in John F. Savage Hall.
Judith Heumann, adviser for disabilities and development in the Human Development Network at the World Bank, will speak at the first ceremony for the colleges of arts and sciences, engineering, health and human services, and university libraries.
The second ceremony will be highlighted by remarks from Nancy Zimpher, president of the University of Cincinnati. The ceremony will be for graduates in the colleges of business administration, pharmacy, and education, and university college.
UT's law school will have its graduation ceremony Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at SeaGate Centre downtown. The guest speaker will be media mogul Ted Turner, who launched the cable channel CNN and the Goodwill Games.
Bowling Green State University will have four ceremonies in Anderson Arena. The first will be for the graduate college at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The guest speaker will be Joseph Jacoby, a BGSU sociology professor.
The undergraduate ceremonies will take place Saturday, beginning with the college of arts and sciences at 9:30 a.m. Thomas Klein, a retiring English professor and director of BGSU's Chapman Community at Kohl Hall, will speak.
Three graduating students - Tracy LaHote, Tiffany Ryan, and Jacqueline Gallo - will address the colleges of business administration, health and human services, and technology at 1 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., the colleges of education and human development and musical arts will hear Magdalena Fribley, a BGSU alumna who manages fitness, aquatics, and spa facilities at the New Albany Country Club in Ohio.
Commencement at BGSU's Firelands campus in Huron, Ohio will be Friday at 7 p.m. in the Cedar Point Center. BGSU alumnus George Mylander, a philanthropist and former Sandusky mayor, will speak.
