Wauseon school board approves union contract

5/13/2004

WAUSEON - Wauseon school board members have ratified a three-year contract with the Wauseon Education Association, a pact that will become effective on Sept. 1. The new agreement, which was approved by union members previously, calls for raises of 3.75 percent the first year, 3.25 percent the second year, and 3 percent the last year, Superintendent Marc Robinson said.

In addition to the wage hikes, the contract calls for changes in the district's health insurance plan, namely a copay of $15 for doctor's visits. Mr. Robinson said a past medical reimbursement offering to employees, of up to $600 annually for families and up to $300 for single users, will be phased out over the life of the contract.

The education association represents about 135 teachers. The wage and health changes will apply as well to about 65 to 70 noncertified district employees, with the exception of bus drivers who have their own union and contract.
