6 districts begin talks on digital academies

7/23/2004

Administrators from six area school districts are teaming up to discuss plans for operating digital academies.

Digital academies focus on teaching students at home using computer software and online interaction with instructors. Maumee, Sylvania, Anthony Wayne, Springfield, and Oregon schools are working to establish digital academies. Perrysburg schools opened a digital academy last fall.

Officials from the districts got together for the first time this week and decided to meet monthly. More than 40 public school districts across the state operate digital academies.
