Delphos schools will ask auditor to re-certify levy

8/11/2004

DELPHOS - After its issue was defeated at the polls last week, the Delphos school board voted Monday to have the Allen County auditor re-certify the same five-year, 5.5-mill levy for placement on the Nov. 2 ballot.

The levy failed Aug. 3 by a vote of 998 to 861. Just 28 percent of the registered voters cast ballots.

Superintendent Bruce Sommers said if the measure fails again, the district will be looking at cutting personnel and instituting pay-to-participate fees for extracurricular activities.

The board will meet at 8:30 p.m. Monday to formally place the levy on the ballot.
