Valerie Allen, a senior from Sylvania, hopes to attend Ohio State University honors program, University of Notre Dame or Northwestern University. She plans to major in English with a focus on pre-medicine, and go on to medical school to pursue a career as a pediatrician or orthopedic surgeon. Her favorite subjects are English and band and she carries a 4.4 grade point average.

Valerie took first place at the district 800m run in 2003, and received an excellent rating on the baritone at the state competition. She is a National Honor Society and honors band member, and member of the varsity girls' soccer and track teams. She is in the marching band and German club and is senior class secretary.

Valerie participates in charity runs such as Race for the Cure and the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis.

"Val sets goals for herself and works hard to reach them," said advanced placement American literature teacher Fran Borchers. "Her positive, candid and witty comments add a great deal to class. Val exhibits her dedication to excellence and her desire to learn."

Valerie is the daughter of Thomas and Melissa Allen.
