State revokes certificate of former Toledo teacher

1/12/2005

The Ohio Board of Education yesterday permanently revoked the four-year teaching certificate of a former Toledo Public Schools teacher accused of inappropriately touching female students in 2002.

Charles "Chris" Poznanski, who worked at Leverette Junior High School, wrote the state board in November asking to keep his teaching license. In the letter, Mr. Poznanski denied the accusations made against him.

He was accused in January, 2002, of touching female students inappropriately and making sexual comments in a classroom. A 13-year-old seventh-grade girl testified during an internal hearing that Mr. Poznanski had touched her buttocks and one of her breasts.

He was recommended for termination by Toledo Public Schools but resigned the following month after being suspended without pay.
