COLUMBUS - The Ohio Board of Regents yesterday released more than $2.6 million to fund 20 math and science education improvement programs for K-12 teachers across the state.

In northwest Ohio, the University of Toledo was awarded $144,063 for a distance-learning program. It is geared for math and science teachers in grades six to 12.

The funding this year will support more than 2,200 teachers by bringing them back into college classrooms or sending college faculty into the schools, officials said.
