Van Buren school district plans to seek smaller levy

VAN BUREN, Ohio After suffering one of the largest defeats in its history at the polls in November, the Van Buren Local School District will request approval of a slightly smaller operating levy.

The school district just north of Findlay is asking voters to approve a three-year, 5.5-mill emergency levy that would generate $1,275,000 a year. Voters rejected a four-year, 7.2-mill levy in November.

Superintendent Tim Myers said that the 950-student district is growing and needs the new operating dollars to stay in the black.
