Perrysburg district looks to balance elementaries

The Perrysburg Board of Education yesterday discussed redrawing district boundaries to balance enrollment at Perrysburg's four elementary schools.

School administrators presented a tentative plan for redistricting that likely would cause more than 100 children to go to different schools. Officials plan to finalize the proposed new boundaries soon and present their ideas at community forums next week.

Superintendent Michael Cline said the school system needs to redistrict so that elementary classes have similar enrollments at all the schools. Right now, Toth and Fort Meigs schools are especially crowded.

"We think our plan will balance classes for the short term and the foreseeable long term," he said.
