Old Fort board votes to lay off 3 teachers in fall

4/13/2005

OLD FORT, Ohio - The Old Fort Board of Education has voted to lay off three teachers for the 2005-06 school year.

A resolution authorizing the reduction in force cited two unfair labor practice charges filed by the Old Fort Local Education Association, which is locked in a contract dispute with the school district.

The board declared an impasse last summer and imposed 7 percent pay cuts on teachers for the current school year.

The resolution, passed Monday night, said that because of the charges filed by the union with the National Labor Relations Board, the district faces "unknown potential financial obligations."
