Student of the Week: Colby Cummerow

4/20/2005

Colby Cummerow, a senior from Oregon, plans to attend one of three universities - Indiana Wesleyan, Miami (Oxford), or Ohio State. She enjoys English and economics and carries a 4.2 grade point average.

Colby has been recognized in Who's Who Among American High School Students and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is student chapel director of the executive student council; sings on the worship team at her church; plays the piano and is recording her own CD.

She volunteers for Toledo Urban Impact, an after-school club for inner-city children. She enjoys the opportunity to connect with children through tutoring and other activities.

"It is a delight to know Colby Cummerow," said guidance counselor Judith Cleveland. "She is an exceptional young woman and gifted in so many areas. While her academic and extracurricular activities are impressive, it is her warm and caring personality and her delightful sense of humor that I truly appreciate. Colby has a joyful attitude that carries her through day-to-day life but also helps her to persevere through times of trouble."

Colby is the daughter of David and Natalie Cummerow.
