Pettisville: 90 students to compete in spelling bee

PETTISVILLE - Fulton County's annual spelling contest gets under way at 6 p.m. Monday at Pettisville Schools, where about 90 students in grades three through eight will compete for awards.

Contestants represent schools from across the county, including Archbold, Evergreen, Gorham Fayette, Holy Trinity, Pettisville, Pike-Delta-York, Swanton, and Wauseon.

The third-grade competition begins at 6 p.m. in the junior high gymnasium while the sixth-grade competition starts at 6 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Competitions for the fourth grade and seventh grade will begin at 7 p.m., or after the third or sixth grade finals. Fifth and eighth-grade competitions will begin at 8 p.m., or after the fourth or seventh grade finals. Awards are given at the completion of each grade level competition.

The annual spelling contest is presented by Fulton County's school principals and sponsored by Farmers & Merchants State Bank. It is coordinated by the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center.
