FAYETTE - Gorham Fayette Local school board is considering four applications for district treasurer and by early this week had received 14 applications for junior high and high school principal.

Laura Sauber, who has been district treasurer for five years, this spring announced she would be starting at Edon-Northwest Local in Williams County on Aug. 1.

And Brent Welker, who has been junior high and high school principal for three years, was hired this month as principal at Eastwood High School in Wood County beginning next school year.

The applicants for treasurer are:

●Terry Armstrong, a substitute teacher from Warren in northeast Ohio;

●Linda Brockman, a teacher at Northwest Career & Technical Center in Cincinnati;

●Denise Lew, registrar at Northwest State Community College;

●Homer Hendricks, assistant treasurer at Lucas County Educational Service Center.

The district treasurer works with a $5 million annual budget to educate 525 students. Ms. Sauber, who has been paid $40,000 a year at Gorham Fayette, is to receive $55,000 a year at Edon-Northwest, which has a $6 million to $7 million annual budget and 681 students. She is to replace Anita Keller, who is retiring after more than 25 years as district treasurer.

The principal applications the district received earlier this week were from teachers and assistant principals scattered across Ohio, but none were residents of Fulton County or employees in its schools. The deadline for principal applications is tomorrow.

Mr. Welker, who is paid $61,000 a year at Gorham Fayette, which has 225 students in grades seven through 12, is to be paid $71,400 a year at Eastwood, which has 650 students in grades nine through 12.
