NW State to add 8 jobs while cutting 8

6/3/2005

ARCHBOLD, Ohio - Northwest State Community College trustees approved a 2005-06 school budget of just over $14 million last night that will see eight new academic positions and result in the loss of some jobs.

Betty Young, president of the college, said the new positions will be in the area of teaching and curriculum development.

"This is part of long-term planning that is intended to make us more competitive and put us in a position to better serve our students," she said.

The job cuts will include the loss of an electrical engineering technology instructor, a program that has been eliminated.

Also cut will be a developmental communications instructor, two custodial positions, a library support position, a bookstore clerk, a technology/media position, and a secretarial position in the admissions and career services.
