Edgerton picks retiree as new superintendent

EDGERTON, Ohio The Edgerton Local school board has hired a retired superintendent of Williams County schools to be the district s interim head.

Charles Koch of Defiance is to start Aug. 1 on a two-year contract that is to pay $325 a day, with no benefits. The contract calls for a maximum of 260 days per year, or $84,500 a year, the board decided Thursday.

He ll do a very fine job, Edgerton Superintendent Brion Deitsch said.

Mr. Deitsch, who has been superintendent for seven years, announced his resignation at the board s July 11 meeting. He is to become superintendent of Fairview Park school district in the Cleveland area on Aug. 1.

There he will be paid $107,000 a year, plus benefits, to lead the district of 2,000 students. At Edgerton, which has 675 students, his salary was $92,000.
