Genoa school board puts levy on November ballot

8/10/2005

GENOA To avoid a projected deficit, the Genoa Area Local Board of Education is asking voters to approve a three-year, 3.9-mill property tax levy for general operating expenses.

The board, meeting yesterday, voted to ask the Ottawa County Board of Elections to place the levy on the Nov. 8 ballot , Treasurer Mike Weis said.

If approved, he said the levy would raise about $600,000 a year for the district and would cost $119 annually for the owner of a $100,000 home.
