Owens police academy will graduate 38

8/16/2005

Thirty-eight students are scheduled to graduate tonight from the Ohio Basic Peace Officer Academy during a ceremony at Owens Community College.

The academy is offered at Owens' campuses in Perrysburg Township and Findlay in connection with the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council.

In a seven-month program, students take courses in a variety of areas and receive instruction from area law enforcement officials. After completing the academy, graduates become eligible for certification as an Ohio peace officer and can apply their credits earned toward an associate's degree in law enforcement.

The ceremony is planned for 7 p.m. in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts at the campus in Perrysburg Township.
