Blissfield: Student of the Week - Amy Leader

Amy Leader, a senior from Blissfield, plans to pursue a career in musical theater as an actress; or music education; or elementary, secondary education. Her favorite subjects include band, choir, anatomy and physiology and she carries a 3.9 grade point average.

Amy is a Junior Rotarian and High Academic Performer. She is a member of the Lenawee County Honors Jazz Band and placed in the Division I ratings at State Solo and Ensemble Contests. She received several science fair division awards.

Amy is senior chairman of the Blissfield High School Building Leadership Increases Student Success mentoring program. She is a member of the band and jazz band, is involved in school plays and musicals and plays trumpet and guitar. She teaches postponing sexual involvement to middle school students and is vice president of the Thespian Society.

She is a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she sings and plays guitar and volunteers for Meals on Wheels and Make a Difference Day.

"Amy is a very well-rounded student," said principal Jerry Johnson. "She is full of energy and her enthusiasm shines through in her music, acting, and academic performance."

Amy is the daughter of Kerwin and Mary Ann Leader.
