10/5/2005

Hayley Israel, a senior from Sylvania, hopes to major in pre-medicine with a minor in clarinet. She is currently undecided but is considering the University of Michigan, Northwestern and Yale universities. Hayley's favorite subjects are math, science, and music and she carries a 4.7 grade point average.

She is winner of the Sylvania Rotary writing contest; recipient of the Baush and Lomb Honorary Science Award, and outstanding achievement awards in social studies and mathematics from the Lucas County Educational Service Center. She received superior ratings on Class A clarinet solos and percussion ensembles and is music director of the CougaReview.

Hayley is drum major for the marching band and also marches with clarinet and baritone. She plays clarinet in the symphonic band, piano in the jazz band, and privately studies clarinet and voice. She is a member of the Dance FX for jazz, ballet, and tap, and performs with the Toledo Repertoire Theatre. She is a member of student senate and is a National Honor Society member.

"Hayley is one of those rare individuals who have it all," said guidance counselor Dawn Hartman. "She is extremely intelligent, yet has the personal charm and charisma to interact well with many different groups of people."

Hayley is the daughter of Steve and Lynn Israel.
