Lake schools loses treasurer

10/20/2005

The cash-strapped Lake Local School District is going to be looking for a new treasurer, in addition to a superintendent search to replace Paul Orshoski after he retires at the end of next year.

Treasurer Greg Spiess was hired Tuesday as treasurer of the Hancock County Educational Service Center in Findlay. Larry Busdeker, superintendent of the service center, said Mr. Spiess is to start Nov. 14 and will be paid $62,000 a year. The Lake school district is paying him $56,000 a year.

Mr. Spiess replaces Sandy Knudson in Hancock County, who resigned Oct. 5 to take a job with the Lucas County Educational Service Center.

Mr. Orshoski has been Lake's superintendent since 2000 and set a Dec. 31, 2006 retirement date with the school board on Oct. 3. The district plans to hire an interim superintendent to serve the second half of next school year while looking for a permanent replacement.
