Taft appoints 3 to OSU Board of Trustees

COLUMBUS Gov. Bob Taft today named three new members to the Ohio State University Board of Trustees, including a former U.S. Ambassador to Norway, the founder of clothing giant Limited Brands, and a veterinarian.

Lawmakers last summer voted to expand the OSU board from nine voting trustees to 15, making way for the governor to appoint three new members this year and three more in 2006.

For the first set of appointments, Mr. Taft chose three OSU graduates:

* Leslie Wexner, of Columbus, the founder and CEO of Limited Brands. Mr. Wexner, a major political contributor, served previously served on the OSU board.

*John Ong, of Hudson, is the former CEO of BF Goodrich Company. He also served as the U.S. Ambassador to Norway.

* George Cloyd, of Cincinnati, a veterinarian, is Proctor and Gamble's chief technology officer in charge of corporate research and development.

These three accomplished and experienced individuals bring a high caliber of business and civic leadership that will benefit the entire Ohio State University community, Governor Taft said. They are all graduates of Ohio State and are devoted to its excellence in both education and research.
