1/11/2006

Sarah Howe, a senior from Monroe, plans to attend a four-year college or university, major in engineering and play basketball. Her favorite subjects are physics and calculus, and she has a 4.0 grade-point average.

Sarah is recipient of the President's Academic Excellence award in geometry, chemistry, and advanced placement chemistry; is academic all-state in basketball; and was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution good citizens award. She is a member of the varsity basketball team; is student council president, pep club vice president, and a member of the Spanish club, Renaissance club and National Honor Society.

She coaches intramural basketball camps and clinics and has volunteered for the March of Dimes Walkathon and the Relay for Life.

"Sarah Howe has a strong sense of commitment to her family, church community, and classmates," said counselor Sandy Kreps. "When she takes on commitments, whether it is athletics, academics or community service, she always emerges as a leader and leaves the situation better than she found it."

Sarah is the daughter of Jim and Mary Howe.
