Swanton: Retired Wauseon teacher to be Park interim principal

1/11/2006

Carolyn Short, who retired in June from Wauseon Exempted Village School District after 20 years as an elementary principal and 22 years of teaching, is to start an interim principal position Tuesday at Swanton's Park Elementary School.

She is to be paid $275 a day, with no other benefits, through the end of the school year.

Park's last principal, Diane Loeffler, retired effective Dec. 16 after three years at the school.

The district will hire a principal to begin next school year, Superintendent Neil Weber said. Swanton got about a dozen applications for the position this year - including some good candidates, he said. But school leaders had expected three times that many resumes and decided to wait until to make a hire.
