Sylvania schools approve contract for nonteachers

2/14/2006

The Sylvania Board of Education last night approved a two-year contract that earlier was ratified by the district s non-teaching employees.

The new contract, which replaces one for members of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees that expired Sept. 1, calls for raises totaling 6 percent, but it also imposes an employee contribution for insurance premiums.

A 2 percent wage increase will go into effect March 1, and a one percent hike will occur in August. The about 300 employees covered will get another two percent boost in January, 2007, followed by a 1 percent increase in August.

The contract covers employees such as custodians, bus drivers, and secretaries.
