Litchfield board chief quits, cites several issues

6/16/2006

LITCHFIELD, Mich. The Litchfield Board of Education is short one member after the resignation of President Steve Wade earlier this week.

Mr. Wade s letter of resignation, read at Wednesday night s board meeting, cited issues with the district s bylaws and doubts about the success of the board serving as more of a managing group rather than a directing organization. Mr. Wade survived a recall election earlier this year.

The district will accept applications for the vacant seat through June 23 and interview candidates at a special meeting June 26.

The Litchfield board named Superintendent Clair Dean as the new elementary principal and selected Craig Lehrke as the secondary school principal in charge of grades 7 through 12.
