Ex-principal to be head of Lake Local

7/19/2006

MILLBURY - The Lake Local Board of Education plans to hire a former Lake administrator to become the district's new superintendent during tomorrow's 6 p.m. board meeting.

The board believes Jim Witt is the best candidate to replace Superintendent Paul Orshoski, who has been Lake's superintendent since 2000 and plans to retire Dec. 31, board President Eric Hirzel said.

Mr. Witt of Lake Township was chosen from a field of 18 candidates to lead the district. He was the Lake High School assistant principal from 1998 to 1999, the Lake Junior High School principal from 1999 to 2003, and the high school principal from 2003 to 2005. He has 16 years of experience in education.

He has been the athletic director and summer school director at Northview High School in Sylvania for the past year.

Mr. Witt will start working on Aug. 1, which is when Mr. Orshoski will step down and take unused vacation, personal days, and sick time until he retires. Mr. Witt's pay is still being negotiated, Mr. Hirzel said.
