Ottawa Hills schools pick new leader

7/19/2006

Cathleen M. Heidelberg, a former interim superintendent of Ottawa Hills Schools, has been named the district's next superintendent.

She will begin her duties Dec. 1, when Superintendent Gail Mirrow retires. Though the school board has selected Mrs. Heidelberg, there have been no contract or salary negotiations, Mrs. Mirrow said yesterday.

Mrs. Heidelberg, the district's assistant superintendent for instruction and technology, has been with the district 18 years. School officials said the new superintendent possesses the skills, experience, and commitment to ensure continued excellence for the Ottawa Hills students. They noted that Mrs. Heidelberg has worked collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, and students to uphold the goals of Ottawa Hills Schools.

During the 1999-2000 school year, she was interim superintendent. Before she began her career at Ottawa Hills, Mrs. Heidelberg was curriculum supervisor with the Lucas County Educational Service Center; prior to that, she was a high school and junior high school math teacher.

She holds master of education and education specialist degrees from the University of Toledo.
