'Greeks' plan a 'UT' of cans

9/30/2006

Representatives from the City of Toledo and the Lucas County Solid Waste Management District, in conjunction with the University of Toledo's Greek Life organizations, will assemble at 10 a.m. today at the university's McComas Village to build a UT logo made out of cans.

The event is expected to see 100 students participate in the "Cans for Cash" project, for which each Greek chapter will bring cans that it has collected from on and off-campus areas.

The logo-building effort will launch a campus program to recycle containers from the Greek Village housing units. The city will provide all 14 on-campus chapters with recycling containers for their houses.
