Huron research center renamed for DeWine

HURON, Ohio Gov. Bob Taft has signed a measure naming the research and education center at Old Woman Creek Reserve after former U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine (R., Ohio).

The facility, to be called the Mike DeWine Center for Coastal Wetlands Studies, is situated near the Old Woman Creek estuary east of Huron in Erie County. It was renovated in 2003 with environmentally friendly materials.

Mr. DeWine, who lost his re-election bid in November to U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown, was credited by Mr. Taft for securing large blocks of federal money for Great Lakes restoration project.
