Owens Community College is creating an online associate's degree program for cancer information management, making it one of three colleges in the country with the offering through the Internet.

The new two-year associate's degree program for prospective cancer registrars will be available this fall. Part of the program involves learning how to identify and interpret data from cancer patient records for research purposes.

Owens, which recently established an online certificate program in cancer information management, joins Santa Barbara City College in California and Scott Community College, Bettendorf, Iowa, in offering the associate degree program online.
