Dean hired to lead UT human, health unit

A dean at Wayne State University in Detroit has been chosen to lead the University of Toledo's college of health science and human service, UT has announced.

Beverly Schmoll becomes dean of the college July 1.

Her salary was not available last night.

"Her blend of academic and administrative experience made her an ideal choice for this important role," Dr. Jeffrey Gold said in statement. He is the health science campus provost; executive vice president for health affairs, and the dean of the college of medicine.

Margaret Traband, associate dean for undergraduate education, has been interim dean since May.

Ms. Schmoll is dean of the college of pharmacy and health sciences at Wayne State, where she is a professor of physical therapy. She received a master's degree in human development and relationships from Wayne State and a doctorate in administration and higher education from Michigan State University.

Ms. Schmoll will oversee a college that includes a wide range of fields, from school psychology to health professions, criminal justice, military science, physical therapy, social work, and undergraduate legal specialties.
