UT OKs pacts with CWA, police

5/1/2008

The University of Toledo Board of Trustees yesterday approved contracts with two of the university's collective bargaining units - the Communication Workers of American Local 4319 and the UT Police Patrolman's Association Local 70.

The three-year contracts, which go into effect Jan. 1, call for a 5 percent pay increase in 2009 and 3 percent each year for the next two years. The current contracts, which expired in December, are extended through the end of 2008 with a 3 percent retroactive pay increase for the year.

The unions, which represent about 650 members in CWA and 31 in UTPPA, ratified the contracts last week. The CWA represents clerical, custodial, and grounds employees at UT.

The new contracts include increases in healthcare contributions and other health insurance changes, an attendance policy, and training incentives.
