About a dozen students at the University of Toledo protested changes to the university s College of Arts and Sciences Tuesday afternoon.

The students voiced their opposition to UT President Lloyd Jacobs plans prior to a scheduled town hall meeting expected to last until 5 p.m.

The students also planned to ask the president questions about his plans for liberal arts education during the meeting.

Some of the concerns of students and faculty involve mergers of departments within the college and an ongoing university-wide budget reallocation process that some fear will reduce resources from liberal arts and move them to science and math disciplines.

Last month, faculty in the arts and sciences council voted no confidence in the College of Arts and Sciences Dean Yueh-Ting Lee.
