An eight-inch water main break late Monday on the University of Toledo main campus flooded Stranahan Hall, which houses the College of Business, authorities said.

The flooding damaged electrical gear in the basement of Stranahan Hall, resulting in a power outage Tuesday morning on the north side of the campus, Matt Lockwood, a UT spokesman said.

Water service to the north side of the campus was restored by about 11 a.m., by which time regular power service returned to most of the affected buildings, with the exception of Stranahan Hall, Gillham Hall, and the Ritter Planetarium, Mr. Lockwood said.

Disaster clean-up crews had worked at the scene since early Tuesday. All affected buildings were expected to open for business Wednesday, the spokesman said.

Damage assessment was not available.
