The University of Toledo administrator who wrote a column critical of gay rights for the Toledo Free Press no longer works for the university.

Crystal Dixon, associate vice president for human resources, is not employed by UT, spokesman Matt Lockwood said yesterday. He would not say whether she resigned or was fired.

Ms. Dixon was placed on paid administrative leave after she wrote a column that said being gay is a choice and cited religious beliefs for her view. Her column was in response to a column about how Ohio is behind in gay rights.

UT President Dr. Lloyd Jacobs responded with a column of his own saying that her comments do not accord with the values of the University of Toledo.
