No smoking permitted on Bowling Green school property

7/9/2008

BOWLING GREEN All Bowling Green City School property will be smoke-free when school starts this fall.

The school board last night unanimously approved revisions to the district s policies that prohibit smoking and other tobacco use by students, staff, and visitors in and outside school buildings. That would include spectators at football games and parents waiting in the parking lot, Superintendent Hugh Caumartin said.

He said school officials had been considering a total smoking ban for some time but decided to enact one now because it is required to obtain green status at the new junior high school, which is under construction.
