Elmwood high school teacher, coach put on leave

JERRY CITY, Ohio - Elmwood High School teacher and varsity football coach Dean Ziegler has been placed on paid leave pending an investigation into "possible misconduct," Superintendent Steven Pritts confirmed yesterday.

He declined to be more specific about the allegation against Mr. Ziegler, who has been a business technology teacher at the southern Wood County high school for nine years.

"A concern was brought to us. We had a conference with Mr. Ziegler and thought it was appropriate action to place him at home," Mr. Pritts said. "At this point in time the information we have is not of any criminal intent. This is an internal investigation."

The superintendent said he hoped to conclude the investigation and have the situation resolved by early next week. Mr. Ziegler was placed on administrative leave Monday.
