FREMONT A $4 million project to build a new skilled trades center is under way at Terra Community College.

Construction will begin this fall on the 25,000-square-foot building that will house the HVAC, welding, automotive, and truck driver training programs. Most of the funding to pay for the $4 million Skilled Trades Center is state money for infrastructure set aside by the college, Terra President Marsha Bordner said.

Terra s board of trustees recently approved contractors for the project, including selecting Telamon Construction of Sandusky as the general contractor for $1.5 million. Ground is to be broken Sept. 14 for the center, which should be competed by next summer.
