Hand-sanitizing a must to enter Mercy College

10/28/2009

Everybody walking into Mercy College of Northwest Ohio must stop and sanitize his or her hands first.

The request is the college's effort to cut down on the spread of influenza and other germs.

“Stop, wash, and go” stations on campus will help keep hands clean with automatic hand sanitizer machines at the entrances and waterless antimicrobial foaming hand rub in areas throughout the college.

“Hand hygiene is the best way to protect yourself and others by minimizing the spread of infection,” said Anne Loochtan, vice president of academic affairs for the college.

The college also plans to offer both seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines to employees and students at no charge when the vaccines are available.
