Toledo Public Schools Superintendent John Foley encouraged parents Thursday to attend parent-teacher conferences next week.

The pre-scheduled meetings will be held at all district elementary and middle schools Nov. 12 and Nov. 13. Students will not have classes those days.

"It's critical that teachers and parents can talk about both the growth and challenges students face as they go forward," Mr. Foley said.

In the last three years, district-wide participation has increased 7 percent in elementary schools and 5 percent in the middle schools.

Last school year, 89 percent of elementary parents attended the conferences and 49 percent of middle school parents.

Mr. Foley's announcement Thursday was held at Pickett Academy, which has seen its parent participation in conferences grow 15 percent in the last three years.
